Nina Berenato

After years in business, each piece of Nina Berenato’s collection still touches the designer’s hands. From her humble beginnings as a metalsmith’s apprentice in Brooklyn to gracing the pages of Vogue, W, Cosmopolitan, MTV and outfitting fashion-forward celebrities like Alicia Keys, Lena Dunham, FKA Twigs and Lady Gaga, it’s obvious that Nina walks through life with her eyes open, bringing a one of a kind vision to each design.

A large part of Nina Berenato's brand identity rests on the designer's goal to use her gift for design to make all women feel powerful, beautiful and capable of anything.

Since opening up her first retail store located in Austin, TX inside of a re-furbished 1959 Airstream Bambi, Nina has become a fixture in Austin’s growing maker community. You can shop the Nina Berenato flagship store now open at 3200 Palm Way #152 at Domain NORTHSIDE (next to St. Bernard) where she produces her namesake collection, teaches jewelry making classes and leads her team of 7 incredible Austin women.

Certification 101: Minority and Women-Business Enterprise (MBE/WBE) Program

Certification 101

Minority and Women-Business Enterprise (MBE/WBE) Program

Learn more about our Minority- and Women-Business Enterprise (MBE/WBE) Program and the types of certifications that we offer to qualified business applicants.

The City of Austin has an MBE/WBE Procurement Ordinance that encourages bidders and proposers to solicit certified Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MBEs/WBEs) for participation on City contracts. This gives business owners an opportunity to compete on City-funded contracts as a prime contractor, prime consultant or as a subcontractor or sub-consultant. Just to give you an idea of what the City of Austin procured in FY 2011. We purchased goods and services in the amount of $66,088,806 with Minority-Owned Business Enterprises (MBE) and $30,585,166 with Women-Owned Business Enterprises (WBE).

The workshop and the certifications are free to small business owners. Keep in mind that Certification is a marketing tool that gives you exposure to firms who wish to do business with the City; however, it does not guarantee a contract.

Instructor: City of Austin, Small & Minority Business Resources
